A hand blender, or as they are also often known, a stick blender, is one of the most useful things you can have in your kitchen.

Even if you already own a food processor, a hand held mixer, a blender or even a top-of-the-range Kitchen Aid counter top mixer it is still well worth adding a hand blender to your collection of tools.

One of the top reasons people give as to why they love their hand blender so much is that it can do such a wide range of jobs and it is more convenient to use than a larger gadget. It is far easier to pull a lightweight little stick blender out of a drawer than to haul a heavy food processor out of the back of the cupboard.

Plus, after it has been used it is so much easier to clean a hand blender than a food processor. We all know what a pain it is to clean out a blender or food processor. A hand blender can be cleaned in no time.

Of course a hand blender cannot replace your larger items – after all you can hardly make a huge Christmas cake with a stick bender. Well you could try but you might need to start around the middle of April! If you want to do your larger cakes without a whole load of donkey work then a larger appliance will be needed.

But for whizzing up a smoothie, making lump free soups, making breadcrumbs in minutes or creating smooth sauces a hand blender cannot be beaten.
